PHOENIX, Ariz. - Three Washington pitchers combined to shut out Northwestern's baseball team as a second-inning Husky solo home run held up as the winning run. Northwestern falls to 0-3 on the season with the 2-0 loss at the Rawlings Spring Training Tournament in Phoenix, Ariz.
Senior left-hander Ryan Bos (Barrington, Ill./Lake Zurich) worked eight strong innings in the loss, allowing six hits and one walk.
Sophomore Dan Pohlman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) worked the ninth, giving up one run on two hits and striking out two.
Offensively, NU managed just four hits with junior Frank Favia (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) breaking up the Husky no-hitter in the fifth inning. Favia's hit was a ground-ball single through the right side of the infield.
Northwestern closes out the weekend tomorrow taking on the University of Portland. Game time is set for 9:30 a.m.
