
Wrestling Loses to No. 3 Iowa, 40-6

Iowa City, Iowa - The Northwestern wrestling squad fell to No. 3 Iowa Sunday afternoon in front of 3,458 fans in Iowa City. The loss drops the `Cats below .500 (7-8) as they remain winnless in the Big Ten.
Junior John Giacche and sophomore Ryan Kane were the lone winners for NU. Giacche defeated Marc Juergnes, the 11th-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, 5-3. The win was number 23 for Giacche--3-0 in conference matches.
Kane dominated No. 14 Ben Shirk, 14-8, at 165 pounds. He is now 23-9 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.
The Hawkeyes recorded two pins and five tech falls in their second conference win.
The 'Cats are back home Friday, hosting Penn State at 7 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena.
