MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Northwestern women's cross country team finished exactly in the middle of the 32-team field at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday, placing 16th with 451 points.

The Wildcats finished third out of the six teams that ran in the race. Michigan State was fifth overall, while Minnesota was 12th. Northwestern finished ahead of Penn State (21st), Illinois (23rd) and Indiana (26th).

The team title was won by Arizona State, which accumulated 109 points. The Roy Griak featured 11 teams currently ranked in the Top 25 in the national coaches poll.

Rachel Evjen (Eau Claire, Wis./North) was once again Northwestern's rop runner. The junior clocked 21:29.2 over the 6-kilometer Les Bolstad Golf Club course to place 23rd overall. Freshman Diana Hossfeld (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) was the only other Wildcat to finish in the Top 100, as she placed 54th in 22:05.8.

The other NU scorers were Karen Rogers (St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood), who was 100th in 22:32.6, Nicole Kuznia (Olivia, Minn./BOLD), who was 126th in 22:44.1, and Sara Jurek (Tulsa, Okla./Cascia Hall), who was 148th overall in 22:53.8.

Nora Colligan (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) and Kyna Forkins (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) rounded out NU's Top Seven Saturday. Colligan was 149th in 22:54.2, while Forkins was 194th in 23:35.8.

A total of 12 women ran for NU, but that dozen once again did not include Laura Evans (Christiansburg, Va./Christiansburg) and Emily Blakeslee (Rockford, Mich./Rockford). Both are still injured.

Washington's Sabrino Monro won the individual title with a time of 20:12.9.
