Women's Golf Ranked in Top 25 by GolfWorld

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's golf team, which is coming off the best season in school history, is ranked 15th nationally, according to Golf World's College Golf Coaches' poll.
The Wildcats placed second at the Big Ten Championship in April while winning two other titles. The Wildcats posted six top-three finishes at invitationals throughout the 2000-01 season.
Northwestern is coached by Chris Regenberg, who recently signed a three-year contract extension. Regenberg, the program's only head coach, is in her 10th season at Northwestern.
In addition, two women's golfers, junior Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) and freshman Ina Kim (Encino, Calif./Harvard-Westlake), are listed in Golf World's "50 College Players to Watch" list.
On the men's side, sophomore Tom Johnson (Fair Oaks, Calif./Del Campo) is listed in Golf World's top 50.
In the women's top 25 poll, Duke is ranked first, followed by Auburn, Texas, Arizona and Georgia. On the men's side, Florida gets the top nod over Arizona, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma State and Texas.
Northwestern's women, which were unable to play in their first fall tournament at Michigan State this past weekend, compete in the Lady Northern at the University of Illinois Friday through Sunday, Sept. 21-23.
