EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University women's lacrosse coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who will lead the Wildcats into their first varsity season since 1991 this spring, recently named Keely McDonald as her assistant coach.

"I had the opportunity to coach Keely at Brown," said Amonte Hiller, "and she was a great player for us. What really made her stand out, though, were here leadership abilities and her work ethic. She then helped me out last spring when we were still a club team here, and has translated her playing ability into becoming a quality coach. She can really relate to our student-athletes. I am really excited to have her join me."

McDonald joins the staff after spending last year as a part-time assistant with the Wildcats when they were a club team. Under her guidance, Northwestern went 19-1 during the regular season, won the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League tournament title, and advanced to the United States Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association Women's Club Championships in St. Louis.

In addition to her coaching duties at Northwestern, McDonald was an assistant teacher in the fourth grade at North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, Ill. She was also the school's middle-school field hockey and basketball coach.

McDonald played her college lacrosse at Brown, where she lettered four times and accumulated 86 points (66 goals, 20 assists). She was a second team All-Ivy and an Academic All-Ivy selection during her career.
