EVANSTON, Ill. - Chris Regenberg, head coach of the Northwestern women's golf team, has signed a three-year contract extension. The announcement was made today by athletic director Rick Taylor.
"We are pleased to sign Chris to a multi-year extension," said Taylor. "Northwestern's women's golf program continues to ascend nationally, thanks to her coaching efforts. Chris is an exceptional teacher and we're glad to have her guiding our women's program."
Northwestern is coming off its best season in school history, placing second at the Big Ten Championship in April while winning two other tournament titles. The Wildcats posted six top-three finishes at invitationals throughout the 2000-01 season.
In 2000, Regenberg was named the Midwest Coach of the Year after directing NU to its first ever NCAA Championship appearance. The Wildcats also finished second that year at the NCAA East Regional.
The Wildcats have been ranked in the nation's top 20 during the season each of the past two years.
Regenberg, the program's only head coach, is starting her 10th season this fall at Northwestern. She is a 1983 graduate of Wisconsin, where she earned All-America honors.
