HIGH WYCOMBE, England - Memo to the world: Kelly Amonte Hiller still got game.
The Northwestern women's lacrosse coach has been one of the catalysts for Team USA at the Women's Lacrosse World Cup. The US is 3-0 and seeded No. 1 after pool play, thanks to wins over Wales (17-1), Australia (7-5) and England (11-5).
Amonte Hiller, who played her college lacrosse at Maryland, has scored 14 points in the three wins. She began the tournament with nine in the victory over Wales, then was named Team USA's Player of the Match against Australia with a pair of goals. On Monday, she recorded three points in the first 15 minutes against England as the US jumped out to a 6-1 lead en route to victory.
Team USA will now play the loser of Germany-Scotland in the first round of crossover play, which begins Wednesday. The World Cup championship match will be Saturday. In 1997, the US defeated Australia, 3-2, in overtime for the World Cup title.
