Women's Lacrosse Finishes Third at USLIA Nationals

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's lacrosse club team finished third at this year's inaugural U.S. Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association (USLIA) national championships. The Wildcats lost in a semifinal game Sunday to Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, 11-7.

The Wildcats got two goals and an assist from Lillian Lardy, while Patty West and Susan Garea added two goals apiece and Alexis Cohen chipped in a goal. At the other end, Kelly Matheson had seven saves.

Lardy and Matheson were named to the all-tournament team.

The USLIA event marked the final competition for the women's lacrosse program as a club program. Beginning next spring, head coach Kelly Amonte-Hiller and her players will be recognized as a varsity program.
