Evanston, Ill. - Northwestern women's fencing coach Laurie Schiller announced the signing of foilist Julia Foldi (Budapest, Hungary/Szent Istvan Gimnazium) and sabrer Lauren Dunn (Fair Oaks, Calif./Del Campo) to National Letters of Intent. Foldi and Dunn join early signee sabrer Lauren Van Gieson as the Wildcat Class of 2005.

Foldi brings to Northwestern a wealth of international tournament experience. She was first at both the North American Cup and Hungarian National Cadel Championships in 2000. In 1999, Foldi finished first at the Cup Godollo. "Julie will be an immediate help to the team and make our Midwest Championship foil team even better," said Schiller. "She has all the skills and international experience to boot."

With the loss of All-American Carly Wells, Coach Schiller has brought in the 17th-ranked junior sabrer Dunn. Dunn recently finished 20th at a senior event in Reno, Nev. "Lauren is a strong fencer who just keeps getting better," said Schiller. "I expect that she and Lauren Van Gieson will be able to fill in for the graduating Carly Wells and Jessica Brower."
