EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's lacrosse club team took the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League's (WCLL) playoff championship Saturday in Toledo, Ohio. With the title, the Wildcats qualify for the national club lacrosse championships, which will be conducted in St. Louis the weekend of May 11-13.
The third-seeded Wildcats defeated Michigan in the quarterfinal round, 9-4, and then knocked off second-seeded Michigan State, 9-4 in the semifinal round. In Saturday evening's championship game, Northwestern overcame a 3-1 deficit to defeat top-seeded Miami (Ohio), 5-3. In winning the final, the Wildcats avenged their only loss during the regular season.
