Josh Axler won in straight sets at No. 6 for his ninth consecutive dual win

The Northwestern men's tennis team's bid for a conference title was halted by Ohio State Saturday afternoon in Madison, Wis. The Wildcats lost to the Buckeyes, 4-2, in semifinal action at the Big Ten Conference Championships.

Jackie Jenkins defeated Chris Porter at No. 2 singles in straight sets (6-2, 6-0), and Josh Axler won over Vincent Ng at No. 6 (6-3, 6-2) to give NU its two points. Axler finished Big Ten competition with an impressive 9-1 record. He has not dropped a set since March 21.

NU will find out its NCAA tournament fate on May 3rd.
