Women's Golf in Minneapolis for Big Ten Championships

Evanston, Ill. - The 16th-ranked women's golf team will travel to Minneapolis, Minn. this weekend to participate in the Big Ten Championships. The Championships are being held at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstead Golf Course (par 72-5,979). This will be the Wildcats' second tournament on the course this year. They finished in a tie for fifth this fall at the Lady Northern Invitational (314-299-297=910).
The championships will feature a six-golfer format, with four scores counting per round. Teams will get their first look at the course on Thursday for a practice round, and competition will start Friday with 36 holes, followed by 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday.
Seniors Christie Hermes and Kristen Beystehner, junior Emily Gilley, sophomore Elizabeth Burden and freshmen Hana Kim and Lauren Grzebien will represent Northwestern.
Burden has been the `Cats leader in four tournaments this year, and finished in the Top 25 in all but one tournament during the season. Burden's 76.57 stroke average is second on the squad, behind only Gilley who owns a 76.43 average.
