Women's Lacrosse Will Be Third Seed at WCLL Playoffs

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's lacrosse team was named the third seed for the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL) playoffs, which will be held all day Saturday in Toledo, Ohio.

The Wildcats, who have been ranked second in the WCLL poll for the last several weeks, dropped a spot in the playoff seeding despite four wins last week. They will meet the winner of No. 6 Michigan and No. 11 Taylor in a quarterfinal.

Miami (Ohio), the only team to beat Northwestern this spring, earned the first seed as expected and will meet the winner of Missouri and host Toledo. Third-ranked Michigan State leapfrogged over the Wildcats and took the second seed. The Spartans will meet either No. 7 Purdue or No. 10 Chicago. Pittsburgh got the fourth seed and will play the winner of No. 5 Iowa and No. 12 Ohio State.
