
Men's Tennis Falls to Ohio State, 5-2

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's tennis squad dropped a 5-2 decision to 25th-ranked Ohio State Sunday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio. With the loss, the Wildcats finish the regular season 12-8 overall and 6-4 in the Big Ten. They head into next weekend's Big Ten Championships as the third seed.
The Buckeyes swept the doubles competition to pick up the early point. In singles action, Brad Erickson defeated 53rd-ranked Phil Metz (6-3, 6-4) at No. 1 for his sixth Big Ten win. Josh Axler continued his torrid play, winning at No. 6 (6-4, 6-2) over Vincent Ng to give NU their second point. Axler has won seven consecutive matches, finishing the season 9-1 in the Big Ten. Joost Hol and Ryan Edlefsen each lost in three-set battles.
