Evanston, Ill. - The 44th-ranked Northwestern men's tennis squad fell to a conference opponent for the second time in as many days. This time it was 39th-ranked Indiana who squeaked a 4-3 win out of the `Cats Sunday afternoon in Bloomington, Ind. NU falls to 8-7 overall, 2-3 in the Big Ten.

With another new doubles line up, NU took the doubles point for the first time in their last 10 matches. Russell Bennett and Jackie Jenkins paired at No. 1 to defeat Rahman Smiley and Ricardo Jordon, 8-5. At No. 3 Brad Erickson and Josh Axler easily handled Zach Held and Paul Jacobson, 8-2.

In singles action, Erickson and Jenkins flip-flopped positions from yesterday's line up, but both fell in straight sets. Joost Hol won at No. 3 (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) and Josh Axler had no trouble with Bernard Tsepelman at No. 6, winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-3). With Jamie Sahara losing a three set battle at No. 4 (3-6, 6-3, 6-2), the score was dead even at three apiece.

The dual rested on junior transfer Ryan Edlefsen's match at No. 5. Edlefsen dropped the first set, 6-2, but won a second-set tiebreaker, 6-7(5), to even the match. He went on to lose the third set 7-5.
