BRADENTON, Fla. - The Northwestern baseball team defeated Harvard University for the second time this week, behind the arm of senior pitcher Michael Nall (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg). Nall threw all nine innings, giving up just one hit and striking out seven. Harvard's leadoff hitter was the only opponent to reach base, slapping a single for the Crimson, and he also drew the only two walks given up by Nall. Nall needed just 1:54 to take care of the Crimson in throwing his second complete game of the season.
Offensively, first baseman Matt Thompson (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) went 2-for-3 with three RBI, stroking his second triple of the season. He is now hitting .326 for the year with seven RBI. Leftfielder Brandon Ackley (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) had his second straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-4. Four other Wildcats reached safely, as the offense scored four runs on eight hits.
