Kristen Dorf will make her second trip to the NCAA Championships March 22-25

Four Fencers Qualify for NCAA Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. - Four Northwestern fencers were named by the NCAA to compete at the national championship tournament this weekend. The NCAA championships will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Junior foilist Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn/St. Paul Academy), senior sabrer Carly Wells (Arlington Heights, Ill.), sophomore epeeist Kate Rudkin (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) and junior epeeist Jennifer Greenebaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingry School) will represent the Wildcats in Parkside, Wis., March 22-25.

This will be Dorf's second trip to nationals. She placed 16th last year in the foil competition. This season Dorf has compiled a 66-16 record, including a 13-3, third-place performance at the Midwest Regionals.

Wells is NU's all-time win leader in sabre with 225 career wins. Last year at national Wells went 16-7 for a fifth-place finish. Last weekend in Detroit, Mich, she captured her third consecutive Midwest Regional title.

Rudkin will also be making her second appearance at nationals. She received second-team All-America honors last year after finishing fifth at NCAAs. In only her second year, Rudkin has climbed to fifth on NU's all-time epee win list with 173. She won her second regional title in epee last weekend.

Greenebaum went undefeated in 22 duals this season en route to her second NCAA appearance. She enters the championships with an overall mark of 65-17 and is third on NU's all-time epee win list with 236 career wins.
