Women's Lacrosse Goes 3-0 at Michigan Playday

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's lacrosse club won all three of its games at the Michigan Playday Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Wildcats began the day with a 17-0 win over Calvin. Lillian Lardy led the way with four goals and an assist, while Susan Garea and Patty West added three apiece. Julie Lazarus had two goals and three assists. At the other end, Kelly Matheson was called upon to make just one save.
In its second game, Northwestern again won via the shutout route with a 16-0 decision over Oakland (Mich.). Lardy again had four goals and an assist, while Garea had three goals and one assist and Patty West scored twice and assisted once. Matheson made two saves.
The Wildcats' final game was a defensive struggle, but after taking a 3-2 halftime lead into the halftime break Northwestern scored the only goals of the second stanza to gain a 5-2 victory over host Michigan. The defense was keyed by Erin Celentano and Amanda Mason, while Matheson had three saves to preserve the win. Lardy scored twice, while West, Garea and Lazarus added one apiece. Jen Bernaz had an assist.
