Men's Tennis Drops Match to Notre Dame

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's tennis team's unbeaten streak was halted this afternoon in South Bend, Ind., at the hands of 26th-ranked Notre Dame. The Irish took the doubles point and four of the singles matches to defeat the Wildcats, 5-2. The `Cats fall to 6-1 on the season.

The Wildcats battled the Fighting Irish to three sets in four of the six singles matches and forced six tiebreakers, including three in Ryan Edlefsen's (Eden Prairie, Minn./Pepperdine) loss at No. 5. Joost Hol (Newport Beach, Calif./Foothill) continued his own personal win streak by defeating Luis Haddock-Morales (6-4, 2-6, 6-4) at the No. 3 position. Hol has now won six straight matches. Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) won his 10th match the year by defeating Casey Smith (6-1, 7-5[5]).

In doubles action, Brad Erickson (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) and Hol defeated the 14th-ranked pair of Aaron Talarico and Javier Taborga in the No. 1 spot.
