NU Fencers Fare Well at Illinois Junior Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. - Freshman fencer Kelsey Nencheck (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) took first place in the Under-20 women's ep?e competition at the Illinois Junior Championships, held this past weekend at Patten Gymnasium.

Nencheck's finish qualified her for the 2002 Junior Olympics.

Sophomore Melissa Dattalo (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South) just missed qualifying standards, taking third in the Under-20 women's foil competition. Sophomore Kate Rigot (Martinez, Ga./Lakeside) finished fifth in the same division.

Freshman Genevieve Bieniosek (Litchfield, Ohio/Buckeye) rounded out the NU contingency, finishing fifth in the Under-20 women's ep?e.
