EVANSTON, Ill. - Though they have only been practicing as a team for two weeks, the Northwestern women's fencing team swept the competition in two bouts this weekend.

In the U.S. Fencing Association's Burton Open, held Friday on the Northwestern campus, NU fencers finished first in every event. Though not officially competing for the school, first place finishers were senior Kristen Dorf in the Foil, senior Jennifer Greenebaum in the Epee and freshman Lauren Dunn in the Sabre.

On Saturday NU's Patton Gym was the sight of the Big Ten Invitational. Once again the women fencers did not officially compete for the school, but again they drilled the competition.

Northwestern fencers took the first four places in every event. Freshman Julia Foldi took the Foil, junior Kate Rudkin took the Epee and freshman Lauren Van Gieson took the Sabre.
