EVANSTON, Ill. - Improvement is evident among the Northwestern volleyball team, as they have surpassed last season's win total with a 6-4 record and a 3-1 mark in conference. The early success has led to career milestones for several players on the team.

Junior middle blocker Sarah Ballog (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita) hit career kill number 500 against Indiana (9/29). She now has 507 career kills, and is leading the team with a .303 hitting percentage this season.

Sophomore outside hitter Molly Kamp (Stevensville, Mich./Lakeshore) reached the 600 attempts mark against Michigan (9/21), and had her 200th career kill against Illinois (9/29). She is just one shy of 100 total blocks in her career.

Despite the move from setter to outside hitter this season, junior Kelli Meyer (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) gained assist number 2,300 against East Carolina (8/31). She passed Jackie Nu?ez for fourth place on Northwestern's all-time assists list against Michigan State (9/21) and now has 2,339 career assists.

Sophomore middle blocker Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) reached 200 total career blocks against Michigan (9/21). Now at 217, she needs 44 to break into the Top 10 list for career blocks. Lange is also four shy of her 500th career kill and tallied attempt number 1,000 against Pacific (9/8).

"These are great numbers," head coach Keylor Chan said. "Sarah is doing really well and has the possibility of hitting 1,000 (kills). That's good for a middle blocker.

"For Molly that is a good stat. That's a lot of total blocks for an outside hitter.

"For Kelli to make the switch from setter to outside hitter and still make fourth on the career assists list is good to see."

And Chan is all smiles as he looks over Erika Lange's numbers. "She's only a sophomore," he said. "These are astounding numbers and by the end of this year, and her junior and senior years, we should see an All-American.
