EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern field hockey team hits the road this weekend, traveling to Bloomington, Ind. for games with Indiana and Louisville. NU and IU enter Friday's game with identical 1-7 records, while the 'Cats are 0-2 in the conference and Indiana is 0-1.

The teams met last year-in Indiana's inaugural season-with the Wildcats winning, 7-0.

"I'm excited to compete this weekend," said head coach Marisa Didio. "The kids have practiced well all week, I hope they compete this weekend like they have in practice. Were starting the second half of the season, and now is the time we see how far we've come and what progress we've made."

NU enters the weekend on a six-game losing streak and has been outscored 20-3 in that time. On the other side, Indiana-which won its first game of the year on Sept. 26, a 4-3 decision over Ball State-has been outscored 23-8 in its eight regular-season games.

Junior midfielder Michelle Cifelli (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) leads the team in scoring with six points (two goals and two assists). Senior forward Nicole Smith (Warnbro, Western Australia/Como Senior) is a close second with four (two goals).

Junior Kendra Mesa (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and sophomore Katie Hall (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) have split time in goal for Northwestern, with Mesa seeing a majority of the minutes (345). Hall has a 2.55 goals-against average, giving up nine goals, while Mesa's is at 3.04 as she has given up 15. Mesa has 29 saves compared to Hall's 12.

Indiana is led by the duo of Kim Nash and Ryan Woosley, who each have six points. Nash has three goals while Woosley has two goals and two assists. IU has used the tandem of Molly Pulkrabek and Katie Kanara in goal. Each woman has started four games with Pulkrabek giving up 14 goals and Kanara 12. Kanara has a 2.40 goals-against-average.
