Women's Fencing Perfect After First Day of NU Duals

Evanston, Ill. - The Northwestern women's fencing squad is a perfect 6-0 after the first day of the Northwestern Duals. NU has out-fenced opponents a staggering 113-49. All three weapons have won at least 70 percent of their bouts. There are 15 teams from all over the United States gathered in Patten Gym, located on the Northwestern campus, to take part in one of the largest collegiate duals this season.
Foil: The foil squad has yet to lose a dual match in the tournament, winning 37 out of the 54 bouts. Leading the squad is Junior Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy), who is currently 12-1 against the competition.
Epee: The epee squad has a 38-16 record after day one, although they have lost two duals. Kate Rudkin (Boulder Colo./Boulder) posted a 10-1 finish on the day to lead the squad.
Sabre: Like their teammates the sabre squad is also 38-16 at the mid-way point and has yet to lose a duals. Senior captain Carly Wells (Arlington Heights, Ill.) leads all `Cats with 14 victories.
