EVANSTON, ILL. - The Michigan Wolverines defeated the Northwestern Wildcats 83-41 in women's basketball action Thursday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The Wolverines broke out to a 10-2 lead and never trailed.

Leeann Bies led five Michigan players in double figures with 16. Ashley Messenger led the Wildcats with nine points.

Northwestern returns to action on Sunday at Minnesota. Game time is noon and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Chicago.
