Northwestern Tennis Teams Open Fall Competitions

The Northwestern men's and women's tennis teams will compete in tournaments this weekend to open the fall portion of the schedule. The men travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the sixth-annual Hurricane Invitational, while the women are at Notre Dame for the Eck Classic.
The men's team kicks off the season with a match at 9 a.m. Friday morning and will play again on Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 8 a.m. The tournament is divided into two flights for singles and one flight for doubles. NU will be competing with teams from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State, TCU, Texas Tech and Tyler Junior College.
The Wildcat women, coming off a NCAA Sweet Sixteen season in 1999-2000, will open the fall season at the Eck Classic. The three-day tournament begins today. The tournament format consists of five singles flights and three doubles flights.
