EVANSTON, Ill. - Thirteen swimmers with a Northwestern affiliation, including three recent graduates, will be among the field when the United States Olympic Swimming Trials begin on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
The Trials will begin Wednesday, August 9, and continue until August 16. For the first time ever, the U.S. Trials will mirror the schedule set for Sydney, Australia. In that format, all races 200 meters and shorter will feature prelims in the morning and semifinals in the evening, with the championship the following evening.
The top two finishers in each event automatically qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team, along with the top six in the 100-meter and 200-meter freestyles for relays. The Olympic Games begin September 15 in Sydney.
