EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern graduates grabbed the spotlight among the Wildcat contingent Sunday, as 1999 graduate Brian Walters earned a spot in Monday's 200-meter backstroke final and 2000 grad Amy Balcerzak was edged trying to gain entry to the 200-meter breaststroke final.

Walters placed ninth in the 200-meter backstroke in 2:01.71 in the morning prelims, but came back to clock 1:59.99 in the afternoon and will be the fourth seed in Monday night's final.

In the 200 breast, Balcerzak was ninth after the prelims with a time of 2:33.09, then finished 10th in 2:31.84 in the semifinal. As such, she is the second alternate for the eight-person field.
