Northwestern Women's Golf Finishes Third at Hawkeye Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's golf team finished third at the Hawkeye Invitational held in Iowa City, Iowa. The tournament took place at the Finkbine Golf Course, a par-73, 6,012 yard course. NU shot rounds of 307-299-322=928, just six shots behind tournament winner Iowa (303-307-312=922).
Leading the way for the Wildcats was sophomore Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) and junior Kristen Beystehner (Alpharetta, Ga./Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.)), finishing in a four-way tie for fourth place. Gilley shot rounds of 75-72-82=229 while Beystehner chipped in with rounds of 79-75-75=229. They finished just four strokes behind tournament winner Allie Blomquist (75-80-70=225) of Wisconsin.
Freshman Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) finished at No. 18 with rounds of 74-74-88=236 while teammate Christie Hermes (Dixon, Ill./Newman Central) finished two strokes behind her at No. 22, shooting 79-78-81=238. Rounding out NU's top five was Karen England (Paris, Ontario, Canada/Paris District) finishing 32nd shooting rounds of 82-83-84=249.
Playing as an individual this weekend was senior Colleen Kiely (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) who finished in a tie for 15th shooting rounds of 79-77-78=234.
