EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women's tennis team (15-4, 5-2) picked up its fifth conference win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Penn State (7-6, 0-6) on Sunday afternoon in State College, Pa.
The Lady Lions won two of the three doubles matches to take the first point of the day, but the Wildcats -- ranked 15th in the latest ITA national poll -- struck back and overpowered the Lions in singles. The 'Cats won straight-set matches at numbers one through four to seal the win and keep the Lions winless in the Big Ten.
Katherine Nasser, Shannon Duffy and Colleen Cheng and Lia Jackson were all straight-set winners. The 'Cats return to the court on Saturday, April 15 when they host Minnesota and on Sunday when they entertain Miami (Fla.).
