EVANSTON, Ill. - Nine Northwestern women's swimmers and divers will compete at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this week in Indianapolis. The event will be held at the IUPUI Natatorium and will begin Thursday (March 16) and continue through Saturday (March 18).
Seniors Courtney Allen, Amy Balcerzak and Dominique Diezi hope to close out their stellar careers in style. Allen and Diezi will compete in seven and six events, respectively, including all four relays. Balcerzak, meanwhile, will be in both of the medley relays and will also compete in three individual events.
Allen, the runnerup in the 50 freestyle a year ago at the NCAA meet and a 10-time All-American, is ranked second entering the championships. Balcerzak -- a 15-time All-American -- is ranked fourth in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 breast, and three of the Wildcat relays are ranked (200 free relay fifth, 200 medley relay fifth, 400 medley relay sixth).
