Women's Golf Finishes Third at Waterlefe/USF Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern women's golf team finished in third place at the Waterlefe/USF Invitational in Sarasota, Fla. The tournament which took place at the brand new par 72 5,909-yard Waterlefe Golf and River Club was hosted by the University of South Florida. NU shot rounds of 315-307-301 for a total of 923 to finish third behind Michigan State and South Florida respectively.
Sophomore Emily Gilley (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), junior Christie Hermes (Dixon Ill./Newman Central) and senior Karen England (Paris, Ontario, Canada/Paris District) all finished with three-round totals of 231 to tie for 12th place. Gilley and Hermes shot low rounds of 74 while Englands final round 72 was just one stroke shy of the day's best.
Freshman Elizabeth Burden (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest) shot rounds of 83-73-76 to finish with a 232, finishing in a tie for 16th. Senior Colleen Kiely (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) finished the weekend shooting a three-round total of 250 to put her in 69th place. Not involved in team scoring, Kristen Beystehner (Alpharetta, Ga./Sacred Heart Academy (Ky.)) shot rounds of 80-73-84=237 playing as an individual.
