EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern baseball team won for the fourth straight game and the ninth time in 11 outings Monday afternoon, defeating Stony Brook, 11-4, in Homestead, Fla. The Wildcats are now 9-5 overall after an 0-3 start to the season.

Offensively, the Wildcats pounded out 15 hits. Bob Dainton led the hit parade with four hits including a home run, while also walking twice and knocking in three runs. Jeremy Kurella, Joe Hietpas and Pat Thompson added three hits apiece, with Thompson also belting a homer.

Freshman Christopher Spiering got the win on the mound, going six innings and scattering eight hits. Ryan Bos and Michael Nall added help from the bullpen and allowed one run in their three combined innings.

Northwestern will travel to Coral Gables to meet defending NCAA champion Miami Wednesday night.
