EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University baseball team defeated Harvard, 4-1, in one of the semifinal games at the Homestead (Fla.) Challenge Friday afternoon. The Wildcats have now won 11 of 14 since an 0-3 start and are 5-1 on their spring trip to the Sunshine State.
Northwestern will play last year's Big Ten regular-season champion, Ohio State, for the Homestead Challenge championship Saturday night at 7 p.m. Eastern. The Buckeyes defeated Kansas State in the other semifinal.
Gabe Ribas had another outstanding pitching effort to pace the Wildcats. The sophomore went seven innings and surrendered just five hits and one run while striking out seven. Ben Dodd and Michael Nall went one hitless inning apiece in relief.
Offensively, Northwestern got two hits from Joe Hietpas and Brandon Ackley, while Jeremy Kurella scored two runs.
