EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern baseball team belted three home runs and used another strong all-around effort to rout Central Connecticut, 13-1, Sunday morning in Homestead, Fla. The Wildcats are now 7-5 overall after an 0-3 start to the season.
Bob Dainton, Joe Hietpas and Brandon Ackley all knocked homers on the day, as Northwestern knocked out 20 hits from 13 different players. Jeremy Kurella and Frank Favia led the parade with three hits apiece, while Dainton, Hietpas and Wes Robinson had two each.
On the mound, Gabe Ribas improved to 3-1 with another stellar outing. He went seven innings, allowing only two hits while striking out a career-high 12. Jacob Briskman and Ben Dodd each pitched an inning of relief, striking out the side each time without allowing a hit.
Northwestern will play Vermont this evening.
