Wildcats In Fifth Place After Day 2 Of Midwest Classic

DALLAS -- The Northwestern women's golf team shot a 328 on the second day of the Midwest Classic, falling three spots to stand in fifth place with a 36-hole total of 638. TCU continues to lead with a total of 614, eight shots better than second-place Missouri. Rounding out the top five are Michigan State at 628 and Nebraska at 633.
Leading the way again for NU was sophomore Emily Gilley. She carded an 8-over par 80 on a day that saw high winds and caused the majority of the player's scores to rise. Gilley has a two-day total 152 and is currently in fifth place. She is five shots behind tournament leaders Ameila Moses (Missouri) and Lori Sutherland (TCU), who stand at three-over 147.
Also in the top five for NU is freshman Elizabeth Burden. She is in seventh position at 157. Rounding out the 'Cats lineup are Karen England (165/T41), Colleen Kiely (166/T44) and Christie Hermes (167 (T48).
Northwestern is hosting the 16-team field at the Hyatt Bear Creek Golf Club in DFW, Texas. The tournament concludes on Sunday.
