Women's Basketball Defeats Eastern Illinois, 86-74

Evanston, Ill. - Sophomore guard Emily Butler scored 16 points to lead the Northwestern women's basketball team to an 86-74 win over Eastern Illinois Thursday night in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Northwestern improved its record to 4-6 on the year, the Panthers dropped to 4-6.
The Wildcats led by 11 at the break, 40-29, and started the second half with a 10-2 run to push its lead to 54-33 with 15:29 left in the second half. EIU cut the lead to 11, 79-68, with 1:07 left, but could never get the lead into single digits.
Butler added eight assists, six boards and three steals to pace the 'Cats which had four players in double figures. Junior Bill?e Russell chipped in 13 points while senior guard Dana Leonard and sophomore center Leslie Dolland each added 12. EIU center Pam O'Connor led all scorers with 17 points.
NU forced 19 Panther turnovers which led to 21 Wildcat points. Northwestern starts its Big Ten season Thursday, Dec. 28 at Iowa.
