Evanston, Ill. - The University of California-Santa Barbara used a 17-6 run in the final 10 minutes to secure a 72-59 win over the Northwestern women's basketball team Sunday afternooon in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The `Cats kept pace with the Gauchos throughout the first half and entered the locker room tied at 37. NU opened the second half with their only lead of the game, 44-41. UCSB then went on their decisive 17-6 run to gain an 11-point advantage. The Wildcats would get no closer than eight in the final minutes.

Tami Sears (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) led the Wildcats with a team high 16 points and five rebounds. Dana Leonard (Glenview, Ill./Glennbrook South) added nine for NU. UCSB Kayte Christensen led all scores with 15 points and 15 rebounds as the Gauchos had four player in double figures.
