EVANSTON, Ill. - Three Northwestern field hockey players were named to the Big Ten's all-conference teams. The teams are voted on by the conference's seven head coaches.
Goalkeeper Jessica Yates (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) was named first-team all-conference after a second-team selection in 1999. Yates was the defensive inspiration for the Wildcats this season, as she racked up a league-high 133 saves and ended the year with an .801 save percentage and 1.80 goals against average.
Wendy Roberts (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) and Lindsay Wright (St. Catherines, Ont./Ridley College) received their first conference selections, as they were second-team picks. Wright was chosen at forward and Roberts at midfield. Wright compiled five goals this season including two game winners. She also recorded her first career hat trick against Indiana. Roberts, meanwhile, proved to be an integral part of NU's penalty corner with two goals and five assists.
