Women's Volleyball Fall to No. 5 Minnesota, 3-0

The Northwestern volleyball team dropped its fifth Big Ten match of the season to Minnesota at the Sports Pavilion Saturday night. Match scores were 15-8, 15-3, 15-7. The 'Cats fall to 4-12 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten to tie for eighth place. The Gophers upped their record to 16-1 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten.
Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) led the 'Cats with 11 kills and two block assists.
Northwestern opened the match scoring the first four points, but Minnesota rallied and tied it at 5-5, 6-6, and 7-7, before scoring the next eight of nine points for the 15-8 win. Game two was all Minnesota as they hit .700, while only allowing the 'Cats three points. NU rallied in game three, but could not pull through as Minnesota won 15-7.
The 'Cats return home to host Michigan Friday night and Michigan State Saturday night. Both matches are set for 7 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
