Women's Swimming Loses to #8 Michigan, 154-135

EVANSTON, Ill. - Swimming without All-America senior Courtney Allen, the 10th-ranked Northwestern women's swimming and diving team fell to 3-5 overall (1-3 Big Ten) with a 154-135 loss to No. 8 Michigan Friday night in Ann Arbor.
Allen injured her wrist during last weekend's double dual meet at Notre Dame. Her status will be determined on a week-by-week basis.
Merritt Adams and Rachel Johnson had big nights for the Wildcats, including sharing the victory in the 200-yard butterfly as they both clocked 2:04.01. Adams also won the 100-yard fly in 56.50 seconds, while Johnson claimed the 400 IM in 4:26.51. NU's other winners included Amy Balcerzak in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.36) and Hyun Soo Suh in the 500 freestyle (4:58.49).
Northwestern also swept the relay events, winning the 200 medley relay with an NCAA `B' standard time of 1:43.54 and the 200 free relay in 1:34.39.
The women will be back in action on Saturday, meeting Ohio State in Columbus at 4 p.m.
