Kelly McCollum Named Assistant Field Hockey Coach

EVANSTON, Ill. - Kelly J. McCollum, a 1995 Northwestern graduate, was named assistant field hockey coach for the Wildcats today by new head coach Marisa Didio. McCollum returns to Evanston after spending the last two years as an assistant coach at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. Her primary responsibilities with the Huskies included recruiting, game strategies and video analysis. Along with that, she was the team's defensive coordinator and goalkeepers coach.
Prior to Northeastern, she was an assistant at the University of New Hampshire where she helped with offensive strategies and was the recruiting coordinator. She also directed summer camps and helped with administrative duties.
McCollum is involved with the Midwest Field Hockey Clinic, where she coaches top high school players from the Chicagoland area. She was also the camp director of the Elite Field Hockey Camp held in Waltham, Mass.
McCollum earned a chemical engineering degree from Northwestern and is currently pursuing her MBA at Northeastern. As an athlete at NU, she captained the 1994 Big Ten Champion field hockey team that played in the NCAA Final Four and was ranked No. 1 for five consecutive weeks during the season. She was named to the All-American Midwest Regional team and was an All-Big Ten selection in 1993 and 1994.
