Northwestern Fencing Team Stays Perfect at 17-0

EVANSTON,Ill. - The Northwestern fencing team went a perfect 11-0 at the NU Duals this weekend in Patton Gym. NU defeated: Cal. St.-Fullerton (26-1), Ohio State (17-10), Cleveland State (22-5), Michigan (24-3), Temple (15-12), North Carolina (15-12), Fairleigh Dickinson (21-6), Univ. of Calif.-San Diego (24-3), Hollins (23-4), James Madison (18-9) and Michigan State (21-6).
Leading the way for the Cats in the foil division was sophomore Kristen Dorf (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) who was a perfect 23-0, giving her a 35-3 overall record. Right behind her was Maggie Kebrdle (South Bend, Ind./St. Joseph's) who went 19-5 on the weekend.
Saberist's Vivian Imaizumi (24-3) (Penn Valley, Penn./Harriton), Carly Wells (23-2) (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) and Jessica Brower (22-4) (Sacramento, Calif./Mira Loma) all had stellar weekends as they combined to go 69-9. The sabre squad dominated their competition going a perfect 9-0 in six of the 11 matches.
Freshman Kate Rudkin (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) led the charge in the Ep?e division by winning 15 bouts and losing only four. Following Rudkin's lead was Jennifer Greenbaum (Mendham, N.J./Pingrey School) as she picked up 12 wins as the Ep?e team went 8-3 on the weekend.
