EVANSTON, Ill. - After allowing the first goal of the game Saturday, the Northwestern field hockey team scored six unanswered goals and defeated Central Michigan in the season opener for both schools.
Junior Wendy Roberts (Toledo, Ohio/Ottawa Hills) got the Wildcats on the board first, scoring an unassisted goal with 12:47 remaining in the opening half. Junior Lindsay Wright (St. Catharines, Ontario/Ridley College) tallied the first of her two goals late in the first half to give the 'Cats the lead at intermission.
Senior Amy Haase (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) added a goal and an assist.
Northwestern is back in action Monday, hosting the University of New Hampshire on Lakeside Field at 2 p.m.
