EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University women?s golf team will host the Chicago Putting Challenge on Oct. 2-3 at the Gleacher Golf Center in Evanston.
The event, which is serving as a fundraiser for the program, will feature nine holes of stroke play on the Gleacher Golf Center green. Players will be paired in twosomes, with a 10-minute warmup time at the start of the hour before their tee time (i.e., a player with a 9:20 tee time would warm up from 9-9:10).
On Saturday, Oct. 2, the juniors ? males and females aged 12 to 17 ? will tee off from 3-5 p.m., followed by the women?s competition which will take place from 5-7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 3, the men will tee off from 9-11:30 a.m. and the professionals will play from 12-2:30 p.m.
The low stroke play totals for each division will be awarded prizes, with the lowest overall stroke total for amateurs winning two round-trip tickets from United Airlines. In the professional category, the winner will receive 50 percent of the pro entry fee pool and the runner-up will receive 25 percent.
Northwestern?s Gleacher Golf Center, the first collegiate indoor golf facility of its kind, is located at 2407 Sheridan Road in Evanston. In addition to the full-size indoor green that will be used for the Chicago Putting Challenge, the facility also houses a bunker, a video teaching room with several camera angles, and a player?s lounge.
