Men's Soccer Drops Opener to Notre Dame

Evanston, Ill. - The Northwestern men's soccer team opened the 1999 campaign with a tough 1-0 loss to Notre Dame Wednesday afternoon on Lakeside Field. After a scoreless first half that saw each team manage just three shots, Fighting Irish forward Rafael Garcia headed an Andrew Aris cross past senior goalkeeper Matt Keeler midway through the second stanza. The Wildcats will be back in action Sunday, hosting Michigan in the Big Ten opener on Lakeside Field at 2 p.m.
