Men's Soccer Drops 3-1 Decision at Michigan State

The Wildcats struggled to hold back Michigan State with a 3-1 loss. The Spartans came out strong with a goal by Rick Smith early in the first half. Michigan State decided to attack again with a goal by Jeff Fliss that was shot off a long pass to him by Pat Mahoney at 7:40. The Spartans Matt Philips came for one more run against NU goalkeeper Chris Berlin who had six saves. Philips scored with a volley off corner kick. In the closing minutes NU's Brandon Swalve scored on a penalty kick at 88:09.
