MADISON, Wisc. - Northwestern made a lot out of a little to nab a much-needed Big Ten win. Tallying only eight shots to Wisconsin's 15, the Wildcats got to the Badgers early in the first half when senior defender Aaron Stolberg (Bloomington, Ind./South) headed in a corner kick from junior midfielder Frank Lawson (Lakewood, Colo./Green Mountain). Junior forward Jon Cantwell (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield East) then solidified his team scoring lead and his team's lead in the game with a late first-half goal off a slot pass from senior midfielder Steve Shanks (Denver, Colo./South). Northwestern spent the rest of the match fending off a Badger rallying that including 14 corner kicks, eight in the second half.
The Wildcats play their final home match of the regular season on Wednesday. The Big Ten Championships will be played at Lakeside Field Nov. 13-15.
