Women's Swimming Competes in World Cup

EVANSTON, Ill. - Four members of the 11th-ranked Northwestern women's swimming and diving team competed in the prestigious World Cup, held Tuesday and Wednesday at the Student Recreation Center and Natatorium in College Station, Texas. It was the first time a World Cup meet had been held in the United States.
Senior Cathy Lundin and juniors Courtney Allen, Amy Balcerzak and Dominique Diezi competed in the two-day international meet. Diezi recorded the top finish from the group, finishing fifth in the 50-meter backstroke in 29.26. Balcerzak placed sixth in the 100-meter breaststroke and Lundin placed eighth in both the 100 and 200-meter individual medley.
The Wildcats have a six week break before returning to action Jan. 16 against Auburn and Tennessee in Auburn, Ala.
