EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern opened its 1998 season with a 2-2 tie against Conference USA foe Marquette this afternoon at Lakeside Field.
After several near-misses in the first half, the Wildcats opened the scoring early in the second half thanks to a Brooke Bell header off a cross by Erica Westrich. Marquettes Katherine Ward answered with a 20-foot laser that found the far right-hand corner of the net. With 22 minutes left in regulation, Enyo Dzata scored her first goal as a Wildcat on a cross from Bell. But with regulation time running out, Anna Frisk scored the tying goal for Marquette shortly after an MU throw in.
